At CHAMP, we work closely together as a supportive At CHAMP, we work closely together as a supportive, collaborative team, sharing knowledge and ideas to provide the best outcomes for the children and families we support. We place a strong emphasis on continuous professional development (CPD), with regular opportunities for learning, growth, and reflective practice built into our culture. We’re passionate about helping each other thrive - both personally and professionally. ☺️

Recently, Saskia, Perfect, and Aaliyah took time to review treatment videos with a focus on the Ayres Sensory Integration Fidelity Measure (a valuable tool that helps ensure our practice stays aligned with the principles of authentic, high-quality sensory integration therapy). These sessions are a great example of how we reflect together, challenge ourselves, and grow as clinicians. 🤓

💤 Why does proprioceptive input help kids sleep 💤 Why does proprioceptive input help kids sleep?
Because it activates the parasympathetic nervous system- “rest and relax” mode.

This is especially key for sensory-sensitive kids, who are often stuck in “fight or flight,” with high cortisol and adrenaline levels.

Proprioceptive input (like deep pressure or heavy work) sends powerful signals to the brain:
“You’re safe. You can slow down. You can rest.”
Not always as easy as Aaliyah makes them look 😅 Not always as easy as Aaliyah makes them look 😅 These animal walks serve a mighty purpose, working on:
💪Shoulder stability
🔥Core strength
🧠 Integration between the brain’s two hemispheres
🦴 Weight-bearing = proprioception (regulating input)

and… all of the above lay the foundation for fine motor development ✍️

Happy Summer Term! ☀️ Here’s a Tuesday Tip t Happy Summer Term! ☀️
Here’s a Tuesday Tip to boost your week: climb, crawl, and climb some more! We cannot stress the importance of a child climbing, crawling, and being on their tummy enough. This builds postural muscle strength, stabilising those important joints and helping your little ones gain the stability they need for development of gross and fine motor skills. This is especially NB for children with hyper-mobile joints. 💪🏼
